The latest: Maersk announced that the first voyage of the new network from Southeast Asia to Australia will take place in March.

On February 1st, Maersk recently announced a new network from Southeast Asia to Australia, aiming at improving the reliability of dispatching in this region and enhancing the flexibility of supply chain. This new network puts customers and their needs first, and will expand the coverage of ports and provide better protection against congestion and interruption. The first voyage under the new network is scheduled for March 2023.

It is understood that the configuration of the network has been carefully reviewed, the opinions of customers have been absorbed, and Maersk's commitment to continuous improvement has been reflected. It is inspired by the hub and spoke model, similar to a bicycle wheel, and its delivery route (spokes) is concentrated on a hub. The network will consist of 16 ships of three services to minimize overlap and provide the best possible coverage.

At the same time, the three services that make up the new network will connect five major Australian ports: Adelaide, Brisbane, fremantle, Melbourne and Sydney to the rest of the world through the ports of Tanjong Parapas in Singapore and Malaysia. They are Greater Australia Connect(GAC), East Australia Connect(EAC) and Western Australia Connect(WAC).

In addition, the new service will replace Cobra and Komodo services and will ensure that key connections with major international services are maintained. They simplify and connect customers' end-to-end supply chains, and at the same time provide a future-oriented guarantee for Australia's international and domestic freight connections. My Therese Blank, export director of Maersk Oceania, said, "Ocean transportation is the key to the Australian economy, and we are very happy to bring improved supply chain solutions to our customers. With the launch of our new Australia/Southeast Asia network, we will restore the reliability and flexibility of the Australian customer supply chain. Our new network also provides superior coastal connectivity in Australia, providing domestic trade routes and multimodal transport options for our customers in Australia. "
